The Federal Government and Basic Science (October 9, 2012)

For anyone wondering about the Federal government's role in helping to develop breakthrough technologies through support of basic science research, read this article that Kristy sent me.

Then think about the Romney/Ryan budget plan, which contemplates major cuts in all non-defense discretionary spending, including NIH and NSF.  There are choices to be made here...compromising basic science while giving wealthy Americans huge tax cuts and increasing the defense budget seems to be a very poor one.
